December 6th - Bargain Hunting

Well – today was an interesting day to say the least. Not one of our better days. More to come.

The day started off with the usual breakfast and then it was off to the textiles market for some bargain shopping – and I do mean bargains. We purchased lots of neat little things including some outfits for Haley (for when she gets a little older) and some shoes (Barb loves the shoes even if they’re not for her).

Because of our busy schedule, we decided that only one of us should visit the afternoon outing which was a trip to see the “Summer Palace”. Barb went on this trip while Andy stayed home (the hotel room is now just like home) with young Haley. Then Andy would go sightseeing tomorrow while Barb stayed home with Haley.

Andy and Haley had a whale of a time. Andy changed his first diaper EVER on his own which was a very large and polluted mess. 15 wipes were required and the process took at least 30 minutes in total. Let’s hope that the learning curve is fast on this one.

Here’s where the day gets bad. Barb, while sightseeing, begins to feel nauseous and begins to cramp up. Let’s just say that nothing would stay in Barb and she gets back to the hotel at about 5:30pm or so a few pounds lighter. Whatever she picked up gets worse and worse and by 8:30 pm the doctor is called (actually it was a very nice man in our group who is a doctor – as luck would have it, there are four doctors in our group). Anyways to make a long story short it was a very long night and Barb was feeling much better in the morning and was completely recovered by dinner time the next evening. Joyce and Gary helped out with Haley which was very much appreciated by Andy and Barb.

As for Haley – she is still just a joy. She did not seem to even notice the festivities and was in bed by 10:00pm for a good nights sleep. Sorry, no pictures today as the days events did not lend themselves well to pictures.
